Funk Helsinki

Funk Helsinki is a Funk-Rock Band from Helsinki Finland. The band has been working long in the underground cover rock scene and is now starting to emerge to the knowledge of a bigger audience. The future is looking bright for the band. The sound and the energy that is manifested in the performances of Funk Helsinki is something that music loving people can’t resist. Jussi Turunen in guitar and vocals has that Jimmy Hendrix kind of "roots rock feel" and sound that is amazingly authentic when it comes to performing the music of he’s idol.

One undeniable part of the sound of Funk Helsinki is Antti Saksa playing the bass. The sound of the band is mainly based to the idea of combining rock guitar and funk bass lines. After finishing he’s transfer studies in United States and moving back to Finland Saksa has been working hard with the arrangements of the bands cover material. Biggest influences in all the funk based music that Saksa plays are musicians like Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. Other Afro American influences can be heard in the music that the band has been writing for their first album. The third member of Funk Helsinki is the drummer Rami Rimpinen. This fine tuned drummer holds the entire band together by he’s tight beat. With out Rimpinen the whole band would be lacking in time and groove. Together these three young men have formed a band that is going to rise to be one of the hottest new acts in Finnish Funk Rock scene.
